“A Journey of ISICAM - Driving toward excellence”, was the main theme of ISICAM-InaLive 2018, and excellent indeed it was. Reaching its first decade of enrolment, ISICAM-INALIVE never cease to challenge itself to showcase the latest and state of the art intervention practice, in keeping with rapid development in cardiovascular intervention worldwide. Specific topics are thoroughly provided by means of workshops, lectures and live-demos by experts both from local and around the world, among them were: Bifurcation PCI by dr. Chen Shao-Liang (Nanjing, CHN), one of the pioneer of DK-Crush technique; Mitral Valve Intervention by dr. Florian Krotz (Munich, GER); and this year special, a live demo of chronic total occlusion (CTO) intervention from Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast, Northern Ireland, United Kingdom by dr. Colm G Hanratty, and dr. Simon Welsh. The latest showed a unique performance, a duet of expert operators treating a CTO lesion from both antegrade and retrograde approach simultaneously, not something we could witness regularly.

Held on November 23rd-25th, 2018 at Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, we manage to gather 793 participants, 103 local faculty, 12 foreign faculty, and 70 abstract submission. As with the norm, a complete range of intervention topics such as complex coronary lesion, lower limb, and structural intervention were covered. In this opportunity, we also announce for the first time our guideline for coronary angiography and myocardial revascularization in stable coronary artery disease. With the widespread utilization of national health coverage in coronary intervention, the need for local guideline is ever more pressing. Last but not least, we were honored to have Prof. Emil Salim, M.A., Ph.D – a well-known economist, intellect, professor, and former minister of Indonesia – to present a keynote speech discussing the future challenge and development of cardiovascular healthcare in the era of universal health coverage.

Next year, 11thISICAM-INALIVE will be held on November 28th- 30th. We hope to consistently provide the latest worldwide development combined with the national issue in the field of cardiovascular intervention to Indonesian physician for better healthcare service. (Aron)
